Stila Eyes are the Window Spirit and Soul Palettes Review and Swatches

Review and swatch pictures of Stila Eyes are the Window Shadow Palettes in Spirit and Sould

This post has been a long time coming. I bought the Stila Eyes are the Window Spirit and Soul Palettes in August 2014, on a pre-birthday vacation run to ULTA for travel sized body wash and shampoo. The palettes had just come out and while the reviews were mixed, I’m a big fan of all things Stila, and especially Stila shadows. So, I splurged and bought both for myself. And obviously I took them on my trip the next day, so my pics are post-first use (sorry! It was my birthday, birthdays come before beauty blogging!)

So, I’ve had the palettes since that time. And they’re pretty much the bee’s knees. I love them. I use them all the time. Yes, they’re a bit powdery, but that’s true of all Stila palettes. The colors are very pretty, I’m a sucker for the shimmer of Kitten, and I pretty much have one of them on my vanity at all times. I rarely travel without at least one of these palettes, and I get compliments on my makeup all the time when I’ve used them.

One thing that I’ve noticed is that I tend to use the lighter shades together. I’ll use Kitten all over my lid and a little bit of Wheat on the outer edge and Golightly in the crease for example. I really only venture into the darker tones when I’m using them along my lash line.

I only use these shadows over a shadow primer, usually the NYX Eye Shadow Base but sometimes Too Faced Shadow Insurance. With a good primer, the fallout isn’t an issue and the colors last all day. If I want a pretty intense look then I’ll use a glitter shadow primer such as ELF Glitter Primer or Too Faced Glitter Glue. The glitter primer really grabs on to the shadow and makes the shimmer much more intense.

Easy eye shadow look tutorial with Stila Eye Shadow Palette in Soul

Here’s a peek at me today, pre-doing my hair (and yes, I’m due for my brow shaping, my appt is on Friday!) I have Light over my entire lid, then Vitality on the mobile lid. Thought is in my crease. I then lined my upper lash line with the Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel, and picked up a bit of Being and Character on my smudge brush. I smudged the liner and shadow on my upper lash line and then my lower lash line. I finished the whole look with Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara.
