Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Mad Hippie

Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Mad Hippie

Pregnancy safe skincare can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.

Here you’ll find every pregnancy safe skincare product from Mad Hippie as of 2/25/2024. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

    Hi!
I’ve read that pregnant women should avoid Clary Sage oil until labor and the Vitamin C Serum contains clary sage oil. Is it safe to use because it is so diluted? I have some of the serum and want to use it but I’m nervous to. Thanks!

Here’s my typical blurb about Hemp/Cannabis products:
There isn’t info out there on the safety of Cannabis used topically during pregnancy or nursing. We do know smoking marijuana with THC has bad effects and should be avoided, though it hasn’t been fully decided if it is just the THC or something else as well. Note Hemp does not have THC in it, it’s breed out of the plant basically. But there are still the unknowns we haven’t decided about. I would not recommend using Hemp/Cannabis while nursing or pregnant for that reason.

Otherwise I don’t see anything of concern here

    Hi Dr,
I’ve been using the Exfoliating serum from Mad Hippie for 6 weeks at night time (not really every night) as it was a suggestion from a beauty blogger online, she was using it while she was pregnant.
I am now 16 weeks pregnant. Could you please tell me what will be the worst case happen to my baby? I definitely stop using it from now on.
    Thank you Dr.

Unfortunately there are people out there recommending products that aren’t safe during pregnancy, there’s one fashion blogger in particular (married to a doctor!) that just had a baby and it took everything I had not to write her an email to stop recommending sunless tanner and retinoids!
I have a little write up for what to do/worry about if you have been using an unsafe product during pregnancy, it’s in my pregnancy beauty faq.

Hi! I think the Mad Hippie face cream may have been changed or at least the link you have is no longer available. Are these ingredients safe for pregnancy still?:
Water, Aloe (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice), Cetearyl Alcohol, Matrixyl Synthe ‘6 (Peptide: Glycerin-Aqua-Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin-Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38), Safflower Seed Oil (Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil), Glycerin, Caprylic Capric Triglycerides, Niacinamide Syntacks (Peptide: Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5 Diaminobutyroyl-Hydroxythreonine-Palmitoyl Dipeptide-6 Diaminohydroxybutyrate), Glyceryl Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Phenethyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Pca, Sorbic Acid, C10-18 Triglycerides, Xanthan Gum, Argan Oil (Argania Spinosa Oil), Potassium Sorbate, Resveratrol, Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera Oil), Citric Acid, Green Tea Extract (Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract), Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone), Acai Extract (Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract), Vitamin E (Tocopherol), White Tea Extract (Camellia Sinensis Extract), Pomegranate Seed (Punica Granatum Seed Extract), Vitamin E (Tocotrienol), Steam Distilled Lime Extract (Citrus Aurantifolia Extract)

And in the vitamin c serum it has ferulic acid, that ok?

Also, what about products that have essential oil/plant extracts, should those be avoided in pregnancy?

        Thank you so so much!

I recently saw that ferulic acid isn’t safe during pregnancy, is that true?

You can pretty much find info out there about avoiding everything possible, much of which isn’t based on much. It’s not considered an ingredient to avoid by the medical community. My list of ingredients that I screen out is very conservative and it’s here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy

Hii, I didn’t see Mad Hippie Face Cream – Age-Defying Wrinkle Cream for Face, Hydrating Face Moisturizer for Women/Men with Niacinamide, Matrixyl Peptide Complex Collagen Cream, is this product safe for pregnancy? Ingredients are Niacinamide – A powerful antioxidant that helps even skin tone & and reduce signs of aging.

Matrixyl Synthe ‘6 – Advanced peptide works to naturally smooth the skin & reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Syn-Tacks – Dual peptide helps tone & firm the skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Coenzyme Q10 – Reduces the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles by energizing & neutralizing aging free radicals.

Resveratrol – Potent antioxidant from wine & grapes that helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles & protect skin from photoaging.

Acai Berry – Super antioxidant increases levels of hydroxyproline, a vital amino acid required for the synthesis of collagen and elastin..
