I’m not certain if the Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture is a stem cell ingredient. Sometimes stem cells are listed this way, but not always. I would check into what the brand is claiming about stem cells in the product. My concerns are in this post: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy.

Unfortunately, there’s no evidence to back up those kinds of claims. So the medical community looks at ingredients rather than brands and products, if this ingredient can be absorbed and could cause issues, then we worry about that.

Thank you so much for your reply! Both 3lab and icClinical for example have released statements that their products are safe during pregnancy as they are not absorbed into the blood stream. You are correct though, we have no way of knowing how each person absorbs what individually…

The version of this that they sell at Dermstore (which is what I’ve linked above) doesn’t have that ingredient, interesting that they are selling different versions.

There’s no way to study what amount of an ingredient is or isn’t safe. People absorb things differently through the skin, in different orders, etc. We talk about ingredients in products and not at specific amounts for that reason. I would not use the product again, and in the future I’d speak with your doctor rather than cosmetics consultant about this, OB and pediatrics receive training in this. I am leary of her advice in the future given what she said, unfortunately.

This is something I have discussed with my cosmetics consultant and she says that it’s included in a very small dosage and as a preservative more than anything else and will not have any effect on the pregnancy and the baby. I was just wondering what your take on that was. Thanks!
