It’s not a chemical retinoid but it acts through the exact same mechanism of action, through the same receptors. So it would make zero sense that we would say to avoid the chemical but that the bakuchiol is safe. Bidens Pilosa does the same thing.

My understanding and reading is that Bakuchiol is NOT a retionoid, but rather, has effects similar to retinoids

I redid the entire list AFTER these comments. Always compare the dates.

Hi, were you able to confirm whether this is safe for pregnancy? Thank you!

That makes total sense! Thanks for getting back so quickly! I’ll check the US site for this item and see if gluconolactone is in it too. I use this product and will switch to something else if needed. Thank you!

possibly, brands change things. I last reviewed this brand last year. I don’t alter the lists based on reader comments (I’ve had readers give me wrong lists), but when I’m not at work I’ll look at the brand site. Sometimes the comments are from overseas (I can see the IP addresses, you can’t), so europe, Canada and other locations often have different ingredient lists than the US.

I’m so sorry, but I see you have it listed under safe for pregnancy and nursing. Did the ingredient list change? Thank you so much for all you do! Such a big help!

No, I’d avoid in pregnancy with the gluconolactone. Ok for nursing though.
