I would avoid the bakuchiol while pregnant and nursing, it works exactly like a retinoid so I screen it as such. I would also avoid the salicylic acid while pregnant.

First of all, thank you for the incredible job you do giving us precious information on what to use and not to use in pregnancy and breastfeeding! I have a question regarding a product from The Organic Pharmacy. I have been breastfeeding for 14 months now and I have been usign this product for two months and a half. The product I’m talking about is called Niacinamide Ultra 5 Serum and these are the ingredients in it, from their website: “*Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Niacinamide, Aqua (Water), *Glycerin, Lactobacillus Ferment, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Bakuchiol, Benzyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin , Salicylic Acid, Sclerotium Gum, Pullulan, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Sorbic Acid, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Silica, Parfum (Fragrance), Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, Eugenol, Citral, Limonene.*Ingredients from organic farming.” I know there is a certain uncertainty in the scientific community on bakuchiol, but all the sources I have read, have always reassured me on the use of this ingredient while breastfeeding. Could you tell me your view on this, please? Thank you so much in advance! I am so in love with this product, I hope I can continue using it, yes: but in complete safety for my child! Thank you!

As mentioned in the post, I need a full ingredient list to review your product as I’ve reviewed all of the ones I have access to. More info here: why I need an ingredient list to comment on product safety. Note, I do not follow links from readers, I need the actual list.

I do not add a product to my list unless I have myself seen the ingredient list from what I consider a legit source, as there are websites and retailers out there with incorrect lists, and these lists also vary by country. Many of the comments on this page in particular are from outside the US. Stating a product is safe within the US based on a Singapore ingredient list is not an option for me, you’re in Germany and you have products not available here in the US and they are likely to be different than my versions. I’m fine with answering about a list if a reader considers that list to be legit, but I’m not putting it in my list. I get many rude comments about things like that, if I have a slightly different list than the product someone has, even if it is due to a product change or being from a different country, I get emails and comments attacking me. Thanks though.

It’s much easier to do a command-F and search for keywords from your product name rather than manually checking the comments.
