So, this was a very oddly timed comment as I’m working my way through the posts in the S’s and today was actually the Sunday Riley update. New list is above!

First, I’m not worried about silicones as they are highly unlikely to be absorbed, they basically sit on the surface of the skin. Findings in a petri dish that bypass the skin are out there, but in an actual person… an ingredient needs to be absorbed to be a concern. Dimethicone is not considered an ingredient to avoid by the medical community. My list of ingredients that I screen out is very conservative and it’s here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy

Here’s the full ingredient list from Sunday Riley for that product:
WATER/EAU/AQUA, NIACINAMIDE, GLYCERIN, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, DIMETHYL ISOSORBIDE, OCTYLDODECANOL, RESVERATROL, DIGLUCOSYL GALLIC ACID, ASIATICOSIDE, MADECASSOSIDE, EPIGALLOCATECHIN GALLATYL GLUCOSIDE, BOSWELLIA SERRATA RESIN EXTRACT, CURCUMA LONGA (TURMERIC) ROOT EXTRACT, OCIMUM BASILICUM (BASIL) FLOWER/LEAF EXTRACT, OCIMUM SANCTUM LEAF EXTRACT, ALOE BARBADENSIS FLOWER EXTRACT, SOLANUM MELONGENA (EGGPLANT) FRUIT EXTRACT, COCCINIA INDICA FRUIT EXTRACT, BETAINE, CORALLINA OFFICINALIS EXTRACT, MELIA AZADIRACHTA FLOWER EXTRACT, MELIA AZADIRACHTA LEAF EXTRACT, BENZOTRIAZOLYL DODECYL P-CRESOL, PEG-8, TETRAHYDRODIFERULOYLMETHANE, TETRAHYDRODEMETHOXYDIFERULOYLMETHANE, TETRAHYDROBISDEMETHOXYDIFERULOYLMETHANE, PUNICA GRANATUM FRUIT EXTRACT, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) PEEL EXTRACT, CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) PEEL EXTRACT, CITRUS TANGERINA (TANGERINE) PEEL OIL, CALENDULA OFFICINALIS FLOWER EXTRACT, CITRUS LIMON (LEMON) PEEL OIL, SODIUM PHYTATE, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, POLYSORBATE 60, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRA-DI-T-BUTYL HYDROXYHYDROCINNAMATE, POLYGLYCERYL-10 STEARATE, SODIUM ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, DIMETHICONE, TRIDECETH-6, PEG/PPG-18/18 DIMETHICONE, TOCOPHEROL, PHENOXYETHANOL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CHLORPHENESIN, TRIETHYL CITRATE.

That’s a chemical sunscreen, which IS highly absorbed. We have increasing evidence that various chemical sunscreens can do things like act similar to estrogen, are associated with an increased incidence of Hirschsprung’s Disease in babies who are exposed in utero, etc. So, to me I would avoid this product due to the chemical sunscreen.

You dont have it mentioned on either list, but it says safe on their website although it has dimethicone. Thanks!

All of these discussions will help:
Why does X Brand say this product is safe but you don’t think it is safe? (or Vice Versa)
You’ve been using a product with a “bad” ingredient
skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and have been using good genes almost every single night. Sunday Riley has it listed as of its “pregnancy-safe products” on its website. I trust you more than I do them. Should I be concerned? I’m obviously going to stop using right away. What about the licorice root makes it unsafe? Thank you in advance

It’s due to this: Why does X Brand say this product is safe but you don’t think it is safe? (or Vice Versa)

Hello! Sunday Riley’s website lists their vitamin c + turmeric under pregnancy safe items. Do you know if their ingredient list has changed since you posted under not safe?

Why is that?
