Today I want to answer one of the questions I get asked a lot. What eye cream is the best under makeup? I’m a big fan of eye creams, and they are one of the products I include in my skin care routine twice day. I confess that I look for different things in an eye cream for morning versus the night. At night, I want my eye cream to be full of active ingredients to fight aging. A lot of hydration is good at night, and it doesn’t matter if the heavy moisturizers leave behind a residue since I’ll be asleep anyways. In the morning, I want lightweight moisturizers to prep my skin for makeup without leaving behind a greasy residue. I also want caffeine to temporarily tighten the skin, and light diffusers to make my under eye look brighter. I consider any active ingredients to fight aging to be a bonus in the morning, my main concern really is prepping my under eye for concealer. There are a few big culprits behind the undereye bags and puffiness. The swelling can be associated with allergies, too much salt intake, or just have some circulatory issues in the area. The Best Under Eye Makeup Products for Looking Younger and Awake

I’m one of those girls that fights their under eye area. I have a little discoloration there, and depending upon how much sleep I get, I can have bags. Note, this picture is unaltered, pretty close up, and was taken after I was up every 2 hours all night, after about 9 months of never sleeping more than 2-3 hours, and I’m 38 now. So, I’m pretty happy with how my eye area looks! (Though that little bit of redness in the circle wasn’t visible in person. Thanks camera!) Trust me, before the steps below, things looked much worse that morning. And they could look much better if I photoshopped it, but that’s not really the point, is it? I’m pretty lucky. Thanks to good genes, daily sunscreen since my teens and lots of big sunglasses (I hate squinting, I will wear sunglasses outside at any possible moment), my eyes are relatively wrinkle free for my age. But that doesn’t mean I ignore that area! I’m all about eye creams (check out dermatologists’ favorite eye creams if you need a good one). Should You Use Preparation H On Your Face?

Preparation H on your puffy eyes to shrink the bags. I think this may have been the first “big” beauty secret to be revealed by makeup artists. Preparation H has always been included in the lists of beauty pageant secrets. Preparation H on your face is right up there with Vaseline on your teeth and hairspray to prevent your bikini from riding up. But once everyone knew the secret to quickly de-puffing undereye bags, they all used Preparation H on their face. Every day. But is applying Preparation H to your face a good idea? This screenshot is directly from the Preparation H website. You can see that Preparation H is not recommended use for anything other than what is on the label (they actually aren’t allowed to recommend or promote any off label use per the FDA). First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller Review: A Lot of Under Eye Goodness in a Little Bottle

When it comes to eye creams, I’m all about plumping everything up and making it look less wrinkly and swollen. Really, it is amazing what a little moisture will do to the under eye area! I hate looking tired, and it seems that I’m really prone to it. All the concealer in the world isn’t enough to cover up my under eye issues, but a good eye primer can hide a lot of my faults and makes my concealer application better. The Detox Eye Roller is a small glass bottle (it holds 10 mL, which is about 1/3 ounce) of a clear liquid. Really, it feels like slightly thick water. It comes out of a metal roller top, which you’re meant to roll over the under eye area. I’ve been suspicious of the eye product roller application in the past (like here), though I do like this applicator. I’m still not sure that the ball really does much with redistributing lymph like FAB says, but it does help greatly with proper application (I’m sure without it I would be using about 3-4 weeks worth of product at a go), and with the roller I’m much more gentle on the area…
