Drugstore Steal: Wet n Wild Eye Shadows https://www.15minutebeauty.com/drugstore-steal-wet-n-wild-eye-shadows.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/drugstore-steal-wet-n-wild-eye-shadows.html#comments Mon, 19 Feb 2018 17:00:21 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/?p=8741 Today for Makeup Wars we’re featuring our favorite products from Wet ‘n Wild. While there are some great finds in this drugstore makeup line, such as the bronzer, and Smashbox dupe face primer. As much as I love those products (Reserve Your Cabana is my bronzer shade, just FYI), my all time favorite Wet ‘n Wild product is actually the very first one I featured in our Makeup Wars posts, the Color Icon eye shadows. My favorite shade is Nutty, which comes as an eye shadow single. It is a great dupe for MAC Satin Taupe, though less pigmented. I think this actually makes it easier to work with, and it is one of my favorite shadow colors. I think I’ve gone through 4 or 5 of this shadow. FYI, they recently “revamped” this shadow, and it is now labelled as “new” on the packaging. I can’t tell the difference between the old and new shades. I wore swatches of both on my arm and checked it out in a ton of different lights. I thought sometimes in low light I could convince myself that they were slightly different. To me, they apply the same and have the same consistency…

The Best Eye Shadow Primers https://www.15minutebeauty.com/best-eye-shadow-primers.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/best-eye-shadow-primers.html#comments Tue, 06 Feb 2018 15:00:01 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/?p=8645 One of my every day “must use” makeup products is my eye primer. If I’m going to apply eye shadow, then I spend an extra minute to apply a primer first! It makes my shadow blend more smoothly, covers up the visible blood vessels on my lid (this goes a long way to making my eye makeup look better) and makes my shadow last all day instead of about 6-8 hours. If you’re going to wear shadow, you need to be wearing an eye shadow primer! There are a lot of eye shadow primers out there, and I’ve tried most of them. These are my favorites, though I use them for different reasons. Which one is your favorite? Basic All Day Primer These primers are very lightweight and dry clear on your skin (at least they do on my skin). They both do a great job of keeping eye shadow looking great all day, I don’t notice a difference between them. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Add Coverage I usually have a lot of visible blood vessels on my eye lids, and using a primer that conceals while it primes makes my shadow look much better!…

Dealing With Undereye Bags: Preventing It, Treating It and Camouflaging It https://www.15minutebeauty.com/undereye-bags-puffiness-circles.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/undereye-bags-puffiness-circles.html#comments Thu, 11 Jan 2018 03:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2014/02/hiding-undereye-bags-puffiness.html I thought it would be fun to address a reader question today! In this post I’ll be talking about strategies and application. I am really struggling with under eye puffiness and how to disguise it (inexpensively). Do you have any suggestions? Thank you! -Lisa What Causes It and How Can I Prevent Undereye Bags? There are quite a few reasons to have puffiness under your eyes, and I love Dr. Bailey’s post on what causes undereye circles, bags and puffiness for more details. The undereye area has very thin skin. This means that the fat pad under the skin can more easily affect the outward appearance, when it accumulates extra fluid this will create that bag we all hate. There are a few big culprits behind the undereye bags and puffiness. The swelling can be associated with allergies, too much salt intake, or just have some circulatory issues in the area. For allergies, try talking to your doctor about an anti-histamine. Track your food intake with a food dairy, watching for patterns with salty foods. I have undereye swelling the next day if I eat a lot of french fries or potato chips, so I’ve cut back and eat the…

Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes https://www.15minutebeauty.com/must-eyeshadow-palettes.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/must-eyeshadow-palettes.html#comments Mon, 06 Nov 2017 15:07:47 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/?p=8169 There are so many amazing eyeshadow palettes out there that it can be really hard to pick a good one! I’ve compiled a quick list of some of my favorites. These are my must have, go-to shadows. If I’m traveling, chances are that I’ve brought one or two of them with me. There’s always one of these on my vanity top. My favorites are all pretty neutral, but there are a few fun shades in there to use as an accent. Anastasia Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette: It isn’t exactly neutral, but the pinks and golden tones of this palette really do seem to work for everyone. I like that it has a nice balance of matte and shimmer finishes as well. Urban Decay Naked2 Palette: There are a lot of Naked palettes out there now, between 1, 2, 3, Heat… the list goes on and on. I think Naked2 is the best for starting out. I break it out a lot for classics like Chopper and Snakebite, which I’ve almost hit pan on. Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette: Great matte shadows that work on their own or with anything else pretty much. Too Faced The Chocolate Bar: Great…

Bobbi Brown Downtown Cool Eye Shadow Palette https://www.15minutebeauty.com/bobbi-brown-downtown-cool-eye-shadow-palette.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/bobbi-brown-downtown-cool-eye-shadow-palette.html#respond Fri, 06 Oct 2017 01:58:48 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/?p=8068 I’m a sucker for a great new eye shadow palette, and I have an especially big weakness for Bobbi Brown. Lately I’ve wanted all of the new releases! I need to write about the Crushed Lip Color, I’m still in love with the On Trend palette too. The Downtown Cool Eye Shadow Palette was a new release for fall, and I of course needed it immediately. At first glance, I admit that this eyeshadow palette looks so… blah. Just matte and boring. But in truth, these are the perfect matte shadows for fall. You can use them alone to create the perfect smokey eye, add in some shimmer, etc. Overall, I usually find that Bobbi Brown’s shadows aren’t as pigmented as I would want. I usually pat on Bobbi Brown shadows instead of sweeping to make the shadow as dark as I would like. The shadows in this palette are similar, but that actually helps. I think if they were any more pigmented, they would actually be much too dark for my skin tone. Instead, I’m able to sweep the shadows on for a softer look. This is how I’ve mostly been wearing the shadows, the perfect daytime smokey eye!…

Teen Makeup Series: Eye Makeup https://www.15minutebeauty.com/teen-makeup-series-eye-makeup.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/teen-makeup-series-eye-makeup.html#respond Tue, 23 Aug 2016 22:07:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/08/teen-makeup-series-eye-makeup.html I’ve been working at my “real” job quite a bit lately (and then was busy with guests and such), so the teen makeup series took a back seat for a bit. Today we’re getting started again, you can check out previous posts in the Teen Makeup series. Once I’ve applied my face moisturizer/BB Cream, I move on to my eyes. I’ll share what I do for a very basic eye look, but you should know that you can do as little or as much as you want. My personal preference for myself is some shadow, eyeliner and mascara (here’s my basic everyday eye look, which is more than I ever wore as a teen). Things to keep in mind: a) You can go very minimal or very over the top, but it is best to use those looks for the appropriate occasions. You might love the look of a winged eye liner and blue eye shadow with glitter, but I can guarantee that you will get a few strange looks from people if that’s what you’re wearing to school each day. The look would be much better for going out at night. b) In high school, there are always eyeliner…

Maskcara Eyeshadow Review and Swatch https://www.15minutebeauty.com/maskcara-eyeshadow-review-swatch.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/maskcara-eyeshadow-review-swatch.html#respond Mon, 15 Aug 2016 18:41:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/08/maskcara-eye-shadows-review-swatc.html A few weeks ago, there was yet another big release from Maskcara, and I haven’t shared their last one yet! Expect my thoughts on their new brushes and face products later this week. In the meantime, I couldn’t wait to share the new Maskcara eye shadows, so you’ll hear about them first. Because these shadows are amazing. Absolutely amazing and fantastic. I bought them all, and you’ll want them too. And I have no idea which ones you should get, because I can’t really decide which ones are must haves (except for Finn and Stardust, those 2 are definitely on the list). I’ve laid the shadows out as you see them on the Custom Shadow Palette Builder page on the Maskcara Beauty website. Some of the shadows do look a little different than on their site, but I think my picture is pretty accurate in comparing it to the shadows in person. (Note that my Gilded did arrive damaged, despite a huge amount of padding within the package, I’m planning to repurchase when I buy a few other items. I haven’t reached out to Maskcara about it at all, because, well, I’ve been crazy busy!) There are a lot of…

The Perfect Nude Shadow Palette For The Pale Girls: BareMinerals The Nature of Nudes https://www.15minutebeauty.com/bare-minerals-nudes-shadow-palette-review-swatch.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/bare-minerals-nudes-shadow-palette-review-swatch.html#respond Thu, 09 Jun 2016 23:26:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/06/bare-minerals-nudes-shadow-palette-review-swatc.html I’m a big sucker for an eye shadow palette, especially if that palette is neutral! I bought this shadow palette from my local ULTA about 3 weeks ago and have really loved it! I find that the shimmery shadows are perfect for my pale skin, they don’t wash me out but also don’t look chalky on my skin. You can read on to see why I love it so much, but be warned… this Summer 2016 release is already hard to find! It’s barely June, and I can no longer find it on the ULTA website, and it seems to only be on the BareMinerals UK Site. If you see one at your local ULTA, be sure to snag it! Can you see why I love this palette so much? There are a lot of different neutral shades included, but especially a great selection in that paler range. Which is what I’ve really been craving lately. I do not know why…. but yes, I want a cleaner eye look with my usual helping of what is probably too much liner smudged onto my upper lash line. You can see in this swatch picture, the shades come across as a bit…

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Shadow Palette: Review, Swatches and Quick Look Tutorial https://www.15minutebeauty.com/it-cosmetics-naturally-pretty-essentials.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/it-cosmetics-naturally-pretty-essentials.html#respond Wed, 11 May 2016 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/05/it-cosmetics-naturally-pretty-essentials.html So, I’m not usually a matte eye shadow girl. I always think it is just kind of… boring. I want a little shimmer. Not a lot, but a little. Something to catch a little light. I usually use some satin and shimmer shadow in every eye look. And then I read on someone’s blog (or maybe it was a YouTube video? I think that was more likely) that some makeup artist claimed any shimmer on the lids was tacky. Tacky. WHAT?? I argue that’s wrong. I certainly don’t bling myself out like a disco ball on the regular. But this stuck with me. So, I started to break out a few matte shadows that I had at home. They were, as expected, a bit… blah. Boring. Then It Cosmetics (one of my favorite brands, I truly believe they can do no wrong), sent me an unexpected box. And inside was this cute little palette of essential shadows. And they say they are pretty! It’s there, in the name! And if things are too matte for me, then I can always add a little of their transforming pearl shadow. This little palette really is just what it says, 6 essential eye…
