I’m not sure how this happened, but over the last few years or so… I’ve become obsessed with one of the most expensive hair care brands out there. It started when I bought some shampoo and conditioner on Rue La La a few years ago. I noticed that with the shampoo and conditioner, my hair was easier to style. I actually got comments on Facebook pictures about my hair being shiny (completely ignoring the new baby in those pics), must have been some good hair! I had a tub of hair masque that I’d break out when really necessary. That little tub was babied for years, and it always gave me a week of good hair days. When I ran out, I was sad. I bought other salon brand products and they were good, and I enjoyed them. But there was always a bit of regret. They weren’t Kerastase. Suddenly, Kerastase started showing up on my doorstep (gasp!) My hair is damaged and dry. It’s my own fault really, I was the one that insisted on getting a loose body perm and then added a few highlights a couple months later. I also use a lot of heat in my styling. I’ve managed to repair a lot of the damage with Olaplex and repeated in salon and at home Kerastase Fusio Dose treatments, but I was searching for a new shampoo and conditioner duo that would baby my damaged hair a bit, without weighing it down. 5 Fast Hair Masks That Work in Under 5 Minutes

I’m a big fan of hair masks and intensive hair treatments. But, I usually don’t have time for the whole “slather this in your hair, then apply a shower cap and then a warm towel” thing. Those hair masks can take hours, sometimes even overnight! I do not have time for that. Instead, these fast hair masks only require a few minutes in the shower. I usually just swap my usual conditioner to use one of these hair masks instead! I apply the mask, shave my legs or pumice my feet, and then it is time to rinse the hair mask out of my hair! Instead, I find myself using up bottle after bottle (or tub) of quick intensive hair treatments. All of these take under 5 minutes, but most of them take under 3 minutes. How do shampoo and conditioner work? In many ways, shampoo is simply a body wash, with slight modifications to improve it’s performance for your hair. The same basic principles that applied to soap apply to shampoo. The basic cleanser in shampoo is the same surfactant that is used in soap. Lathering agents, thickeners and other additives to adjust pH and add moisture and fragrance are added, but the basic shampoo is very similar to a body wash. Winter Hair Pampering: Nexxus Bundle at Costco

I know that I’m not the only one whose hair is starting to act up lately. I’ve been working non-stop it seems over the holidays at my “real” job, which means very little time with my family and even less time for me and my hair! That’s when the arctic freeze came roaring into Michigan. The cold weather, lower humidity and more time inside has combined with being seriously overdue for a salon appointment, resulting in dry hair that is frizzy and difficult to manage. Your Worst Hair Problems Solved: What Product To Use

If only we all had perfect hair. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. There’s always something you want to fix. Whether that’s dryness, damaged and split ends, brassiness, frizz or you just want to add volume at the roots, it’s hard to know how to fix things. Over the years I’ve fought all of those hair battles, here are my favorite products to fix all of those issues! Dry Hair I have two favorite products that help rehydrate my hair, deciding between the two depends upon how much time you have. My favorite treatment for dry hair is Darshana Hair Oil (here’s my Darshana review). It will not make your hair greasy! I put it very liberally in my hair and leave it in as long as possible. I’ve even done overnight, but if that worries you try throwing your hair up in a bun for a few hours and then washing it out. The results are amazing! If you don’t have time for an overnight treatment, then try swapping out your usual conditioner for Aussie 3 Minute Miracle in Moist (see my review here). Kenra Brightening Line Review: Purple Shampoo is Amazing

I used to have blonde hair. It’s been a while, but one of the most annoying things about having blonde hair was brassiness. When my hair would start to get that coppery-orange tint, my blonde was not as pretty, and purple shampoo was the best solution. It’s been a long time since my own hair was blonde, but I’m now the mom to two blondies, and I recently realized that the little almost platinum blonde 2 year old was very brassy, and I needed to do something about it! Her 6 year old sister has darker blonde hair, but needed some purple shampoo as well. I headed to my local ULTA, where I found the Kenra Brightening line. Intensive Treatment in Under 5 Minutes: Kerastase Fusio-Dose Review

I’ve been pretty open with my hair struggles. I have thick, but fine hair. And it’s pretty straight, and an in between brown that’s kind of blah on it’s own. So, I mess with it, a lot! My hair can take a lot of abuse, but eventually even my hair can’t take it any more. There was that time a few years ago that I fried my hair, and too much heat styling (aka- obsession with my BeachWaver) resulted in hair that felt like a Brillo Pad. I’m a hair product junkie. You name it, I want to try it. I have high end, luxury, salon only, and drugstore hair products stashed all over my bathroom! I’m constantly trying new products, new ways to style my hair, I can’t do the same thing more than 1-2 times. All of this (and a bunch of sponsored posts, truthfully), mean that I’ve tried a lot of drugstore hair products. Changing it Up: Smoothing Before Styling

When shopping for hair products, in the past I’ve always immediately reached for the volumizing version of everything. I wanted volumizing shampoo, conditioner, styling products… you get the idea. The bigger the better! In the last 6 months or so I’ve really processed my hair a lot, something that has finally tipped my previously very healthy hair that could handle all sorts of abuse, over the edge. My hair is definitely drier and damaged, resulting in some frizz and it can be hard to get my hair smooth without using heat. The last thing that I want to do is add an additional heat styling step to my hair care routine each day! However, the unfortunately truth is that I do need a little smoothing now before curling my hair. Without it, my hair looks a bit frizzy and not well pulled together.
