I have to admit that since I write a lot about hair products I felt like I had already covered this topic a lot lately. So I’ll be sharing my current go-to hair styling tool instead! See that black bag? Inside of that black bag is something very special. It’s the HSI Professional Groover Master Kit. This thing has a plug in base and then 10 (yes, ten) different attachments. This pretty much the ultimate set of curling rods. No matter what look you want to achieve, from beachy waves to spiral curls. The set is really very easy to use. Each of the attachments has an end that just slides into the base, then you twist the ring to lock it into place. You can change it even when the attachment is hot, though I strongly recommend wearing the included heat resistant glove when you swap out the attachment. The cord is actually pretty long, and I love that it swivels around 360 degrees and does get tangled. Overall it is really very easy to use the curling rod, you just turn it on and set the temperature (250-400…

About that Revlon 360 Blow Dryer… https://www.15minutebeauty.com/revlon-360-blow-dryer-review.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/revlon-360-blow-dryer-review.html#comments Mon, 18 Sep 2017 16:08:29 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/?p=8025 Have you heard about this blow dryer yet? Revlon just released a brand new hair dryer, and it is basically a Dyson hand dryer. Yes, just like at the airport. It’s kind of genius, because you slip your hair into the inner slot, and the jets are directed downwards, so they’ll actually help push the water off your hair and smooth the cuticle in the right direction at the same time. After using the Revlon 360 Styler, your hair is smoother, shinier and for me it takes a lot less time to dry. One thing that I was worried about when I bought this dryer was how I would dry my roots. It turns out that the whole thing twists, as you can see above, and it closes up to work more like a conventional dryer. Note, when you do this a nozzle won’t fit on the dryer, you’ll have to work with the air coming out of the entire end. I mentioned this dryer last week in a Facebook group that I’m in, and they wanted to see a video. So, for once I made a video! Here I am (wearing only tinted moisturizer FYI, so be kind to…

Poke A Dot: A Makeup Organizer Unlike Anything Else https://www.15minutebeauty.com/poke-dot-makeup-organizer-review.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/poke-dot-makeup-organizer-review.html#respond Sat, 29 Apr 2017 01:51:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2017/04/poke-dot-makeup-organizer-unlike.html I’m a sucker for organizers, makeup bags, drawer dividers… you name it, if it holds stuff, I want to try it out. And I’m convinced that it will completely change my life. And let’s be honest, most of the items do help me contain my stuff, but they mostly just sit there or perform the same function as the item they replaced before them. When I was asked to try out the Poke a Dot, I was super excited! Here was something that organizes, but it does actually function differently then my other products. It fulfills a few functions, and easily transitions between them. The Poke a Dot is a system rather than just one product. It’s pretty versatile in my opinion, and this is perfect for storing your makeup at home (for me it would be my daily basics, I have too much stuff to make it store everything), it could keep things organized for travel or the gym if you want to bring a lot of things with you. It would also be amazing in your desk drawer at work, if you want to have nicely organized makeup with you, but out of sight. The entire thing starts…

Must Have Makeup Brushes Under $15 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/cheap-makeup-brushes.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/cheap-makeup-brushes.html#respond Mon, 10 Apr 2017 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2017/04/cheap-makeup-brushes.html Today for Makeup Wars we’re sharing our favorite makeup brushes! I have a bit of a “thing” for makeup brushes, I have a huge collection at home and I can’t seem to stop trying out new ones! Many of my favorites are from brands like It Cosmetics (their face brushes in particular are amazing, you can find a few at Sephora but they have a full line of brushes that are exclusive for ULTA), NARS (especially their #45 Smudge Brush, here at Sephora or at NARS), Laura Mercier (the travel crease brush and pony tail) and Bobbi Brown (her Ultra Fine Eye Liner brush). Despite those expensive brushes, I have to admit that many of the brushes that I use regularly are under $15, and many actually only cost a few dollars. Brands like ELF and Coastal Scents have amazing brushes, and since they’re so cheap, you can definitely afford to stock up! The $1 ELF Eye Shadow Brush is one that I have about 10 of (since I can then be a bit lazier about cleaning them), and I reach for it regularly instead of more expensive brushes from MAC. I thought rather than just showing my favorite, I’d…

The Best Concealer Brush and Blending Sponges https://www.15minutebeauty.com/ecotools-microblending-brush-color-minis.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/ecotools-microblending-brush-color-minis.html#respond Fri, 07 Apr 2017 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2017/04/ecotools-microblending-brush-color-minis.html A few weeks ago I was on the hunt for EcoTools for a sponsored post (you can read it here, I created a little kit of brushes that I recently took to Disney World for our family spring break, it was awesome and perfect). While I was shopping, I spotted a few things from EcoTools off to the side, and while they didn’t really fit with my theme of a pared down travel makeup brush kit, I bought them anyways. And wow, I’m glad I did! They have become some of my favorite makeup tools! So, what are they? The Micro Blending Brush and Color Perfecting Minis. First, the minis are super cute little BeautyBlender like sponges. They’re colored just like your color correctors, so it’s easy to remember which sponge to grab for blending each corrector. I was having issues because I would blend my green redness corrector with a BeautyBlender, but then use that same sponge for my orange under eye circle corrector, or my concealer/foundation. The result was a bit of a muddy mess! And using just a fingertip wasn’t quite enough. Now I just grab the correct color sponge, and they’re small and perfectly shaped for…

Is Double Heating Better: Remington T Studio Thermaluxe Curlers Review https://www.15minutebeauty.com/remington-thermaluxe-rollers-review.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/remington-thermaluxe-rollers-review.html#respond Mon, 20 Mar 2017 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2017/03/remington-thermaluxe-rollers-review.html I love hot rollers. They are fast and easy. I can put them in my hair in about 3-4 minutes, and then let them cool down while I do my makeup. Once they’re out, they just need a quick tousle, a spray of hair spray, and I’m ready to go! However, since my rollers are aging, they don’t get as hot. Over the last year or so the change in temperature has been very noticeable, and the result is that my hair falls flat by the end of the day instead of 2-3 days later. So, I’ve tried a few new sets of rollers, part of my forever hunt for the perfect, effortless curl. Those other sets haven’t impressed me much. There was a set that was much too heavy, one from the same brand as my beloved stand by curlers that simply didn’t have enough curlers, so I’m hoping that the third time is the charm! The thermaluxe roller set from Remington is a bit different, because rather than heating up only the roller, you also heat the clip! When your hair is rolled, you’ll get more even and thorough heating, and a longer lasting curl. You can see…

T3 Voluminous Hot Rollers Set Review https://www.15minutebeauty.com/t3-voluminous-hot-rollers-set-review.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/t3-voluminous-hot-rollers-set-review.html#comments Thu, 13 Oct 2016 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/10/t3-voluminous-hot-rollers-set-review.html If you’ve read my blog for a while, you may have noticed that I have a slight issue with curling my hair. Meaning, I’m completely obsessed. As a straight haired girl, I want what I do not have, and that is curly hair. I covet it, I will spend time to get it, I want to use no heat curlers, I own a huge number of curling appliances, and about 4 sets of hot rollers. Most of my favorite curling irons, and my fave blow dryer, are all from T3. And a few months ago I got an email from their website that the T3 hot rollers, which I’ve coveted for what feels like forever, were on sale. I pounced! The set comes with 8 rollers, 4 are 1.5″, 4 1.75″, so quite a bit larger than all of my other roller sets. The rollers have Tourmaline in them, and they are covered in velvet. They come with a plastic heating base, inside of a bag for easy transportation. The cord is separate, you just plug that into the back. There is little net pocket in the top of the bag to hold on to the butterfly clips (which, fyi,…

Some of My New Favorite Makeup Brushes: Maskcara Beauty Makeup Brush Review https://www.15minutebeauty.com/maskcara-beauty-makeup-brush-review.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/maskcara-beauty-makeup-brush-review.html#comments Sat, 20 Aug 2016 00:29:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/08/maskcara-beauty-makeup-brush-review.html I have a thing for makeup brushes. I have a ton of them, but I’m pretty picky about which ones I’ll use. My preferences: – Soft bristles that don’t grab too much product – Nicely weighted handle – I don’t care about synthetic or natural bristles – I’m not a snob when it comes to brushes. Many of my favorites are just a few dollars. The shape, bristles, etc. All of that is much more important to me than brand. – I prefer single headed brushes, because I store my brushes in cups on top of my vanity area. They stand up. Well, I’m in love with the Maskcara makeup brushes, and I’m ignoring the fact that they are double ended. I was sent one brush for review by Maskcara a few months ago, and I liked it so much that I went back and bought 4 more brushes (including a duplicate of the brush I was sent). I now have all of their brushes except for the B Squared Brush, and I am kind of regretting not buying it now. 30 Second HAC Brush This is the brush that started it all, the one I know own 2 of.…

My Must Have Makeup Brushes https://www.15minutebeauty.com/best-must-have-makeup-brushes.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/best-must-have-makeup-brushes.html#respond Tue, 05 Jul 2016 22:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/07/best-must-have-makeup-brushes.html There are approximately one million and one different makeup brushes on the market. And that is not an exaggeration. It can be hard to navigate which ones you really need and what they do. I thought I’d share a few of my favorite types, briefly explain what they do, and then show you some brushes at various price points that fulfill that need. 1. The Eye Shadow Fluff Brush This is my basic, go-to shadow brush. I can apply a light wash of color all over my eye, concentrate a slightly darker color at my outer corner, or even use it to blend. Smaller brushes or those with stiffer bristles will apply more concentrated color. This is the brush I pick up the most often, and I can go through 2 or 3 of them in one day (I don’t like to mix my colors), I mostly use the $1 ELF brush. My Picks: Steal: e.l.f. Eye Shadow Brush (at ELF or Target) Deal: Sigma E54 Medium Sweeper (at Sigma or Nordstrom) Splurge: Sephora Classic Must Have Powder Shadow Brush #60 (at Sephora) Luxe: Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Brush (at Bobbi Brown, Sephora or Nordstrom) 2. The Eye Shadow Crease Brush…

Oval Curling Wands for Every Price Point https://www.15minutebeauty.com/oval-curling-wands-for-every-price-point.html https://www.15minutebeauty.com/oval-curling-wands-for-every-price-point.html#respond Wed, 27 Apr 2016 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.15minutebeauty.com/2016/04/oval-curling-wands-for-every-price-poin.html Do you remember this oval curling wand? I reviewed it last week, and the response has been insane. I’ve been getting emails, tweets, and just friends asking in person: I love that look, but really? $200?? For an oval curling wand?? I know. $200 is a lot for a curling wand. There are some great features in that one, such as super fast heating, and it is great at maintaining an even temperature for the entire wand. But, there were a lot of requests for a lower priced option. So I went and found you some! Unfortunately, oval curling wands are really hard to find. The 5 that I found were pretty much the only options on-line. 1. ghd Curve Classic Wave Curling Wand (at ghd, Sephora, Nordstrom or Amazon), About $199 This is the original. Yes, it’s $199 at ghd, but as I’m typing this it is $150 at Amazon, where the price fluctuates as it goes on sale on different sites on line. Sephora is also a great place to watch as they do occasionally have sales and have a great return policy. 2. Sultra The Bombshell Oval Curling Iron (at Sephora or ULTA), About $130 Back in…
