Ask a Beauty Blogger Series Returns

beauty blogger question series

“Back in the day” I had a series called Ask a Beauty Blogger. Readers sent in questions they wanted my input on, and I answered with my info and product recommendations. I would also tap into my network of beauty experts to offer their opinions. I recently asked my email subscribers for their opinions/wish list post ideas (if you want to offer some input, the survey is here). I also asked if they would be interested in the return of the Ask a Beauty Blogger series. The answer was a pretty emphatic yes!

So, here’s your chance to ask a question! Just drop me a short note, I’ll answer and get a few beauty friends to chime in as well.

Yes, I still answer questions about product safety! You must follow these guidelines. Any rude comments or those not following the guidelines will be removed. This means full product name, ingredient list, and each product must either be on the proper brand page or the brand list page. I won't accept comments in the wrong spot.

You can check the pregnancy beauty FAQ for many answers. Also check out which makeup and hair products I think you should worry about. Additional info about: perfume, nail polish and sunless tanners

    Hi!
Wondering if like skincare there are certain ingredients in hair care that should be avoided while pregnant/breastfeeding or just the same? I’ve been using a clarifying shampoo and apple cider vinegar rinse. But wanted to make sure it is safe while breastfeeding? Specifically the R+Co brand product?

    ACV rinse:
Aqua/Water/Eau, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Coco-Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Polysorbate 20, Glycerin, Geranium Maculatum (Cranesbill) Extract, Polyacrylamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Calophyllum Inophyllum (Tamanu) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Sodium Methoxy PEG-16 Maleate/Styrene Sulfonate Copolymer, Silicone Quaternium-8, Benzophenone-4, Polyquaternium-70, Rapeseedamidopropyl Ethyldimonium Ethosulfate, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Quaternium-96, Xanthan Gum, Propanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Parfum/Fragrance, Limonene, Linalool

    Clarifying Shampoo:
Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Lauryl Glucoside, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Lauryl Lactyl Lactate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Wheat Amino Acids, Polyquaternium-10, Disodium EDTA, Tetrasodium EDTA, Alcohol, Sodium Bicarbonate, Magnesium Nitrate, Magnesium Chloride, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Chlorphenesin, Parfum/Fragrance, Limonene, Linalool

    Thank you!

I have been hearing about ingestion of collagen but am suspicious if it really works and what would i really be ingesting. It probably isn’t safe during pregnancy but what about during nursing? Thank you for any input!

Hi! Your page has been SO helpful while trying to navigate these changes in my skin from pregnancy! Thank you so much for all your work that you put in for all of us! (: I did want to know if you were going to do Trilogy’s line? I was at Whole Foods looking for some products and I thought they had some good options but I wasn’t 100 percent sure on them being pregnancy safe. Let me know if I missed them on your site somewhere!
