It’s nearing crunch time, which means you need to really buckle down and actually chose a gift for your best friend, sister in law or mom. You know, that person that “doesn’t want anything” but you know will be insanely disappointed if you don’t buy her something? But she also has everything already and there is nothing left to buy for her?
Sephora has you. It turns out that they have 20% off your purchase. The code is GIFTEASY, and it works 12/3-12/12 in both the US and Canada. This is perfect for buying things for everyone left on your list. Or getting things for yourself that you forgot to get during their Holiday Savings Event.
Things to know about this special code:
• It’s a 1 time use, so you need to plan your cart well. Make sure you have gifts for everyone on your list. And it’s one time, in store or online. Make a list and check it twice!
• It’s not just 20% off your purchase (with a few exceptions), you also get 30% off Sephora Collection (no code needed for that part)
• It’s valid for all tiers of the Beauty Insider program. This is huge! Even if you just signed up (which is free, and has other amazing perks).
Here’s a peek at items that I think would be a big hit with any hard to shop for beauty lover.
1. Amazing Shadow Palette
Unless your sister in law is a beauty blogger, chances are pretty good that she doesn’t have the latest eyeshadow palette. A great palette always goes over well, especially if it’s in tones that you know she wears, will work with her coloring, or the palette is big enough that she’ll have a lot of options.
My pick: Charlotte Tilbury Smokey Eyes are Forever Instant Eye Palette: I love everything Charlotte Tilbury, her shadows are silky, blendable and last all day. I love how she arranges her larger palettes into shadow trios or quads, making it easy to create a look.
Additional choices: Dior BACKSTAGE Eyeshadow Palette in Plum (shown here), Tarte Tartelette™ Full Bloom Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette also works for almost everyone.
2. Shiny Splurge Lip Gloss
Lip gloss is a great stocking stuffer or smaller present. I would go for a light neutral color, since it can easily be worn over a lipstick or alone. I’ve been really excited to try out this new gloss/balm from Huda, but you also can’t go wrong with Dior’s cult classic. I have to admit I own every shade of the Westmas Atelier gloss and it really feels like a balm.
My pick: Huda Beauty Silk Balm Rose Quartz Illuminating Lip Balm, here I’m wearing it alone to show that doesn’t have much color and would be great for layering, I’m planning to use it with Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk liner. It doesn’t feel sticky and has just a bit of shimmer. It will pair well with lip stains and lip liners!
Additional choices: Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss, Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm
3. Great Makeup Brush Set
No matter how many makeup brushes you own, everyone always wants a new set. Whether you plan to use the new set for travel or to augment your everyday brush stash, I look for the same things in a good makeup brush. I want soft bristles that aren’t falling out and lay evenly in the brush. I want them to evenly pick up and deposit pigments for an even application. And I want them to last for a good long while. I’ve never been disappointed with a Sephora brush, so I love to give them away as presents.
My pick: Sephora Season to Sparkle 8 Piece Makeup Brush Set
Additional choices: Sephora Coconut Mini Brush Set, Sephora Charcoal Infused Vegan Makeup Brush Set
4. Splurge Body Cream/Lotion
Somehow body lotion is one of those things people don’t splurge on. I recommend a super hydrating cream that could be used on the body or just on your hands, perfect for the winter!
My pick: Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Body Cream has a beachy scent, and an interesting consistency as it is a bit more like a lotion than other creams. It really melts into skin and provides a lot of hydration, which is why it’s such a cult favorite.
Additional choices: Kiehl’s Crème de Corps, Caudalie Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream
5. Perfume Set
Perfume sets are obviously one of those “classic” gifts for the Holidays, and in the past I’ve always recommended one of the Sephora Favorites sets, where you get small samples of many perfumes and can exchange a voucher for a bottle of your choice. Those are still a great idea if you don’t know what a person would love. But if you know their style, or a favorite brand, then I really like sets like these. For $20 I got 5 vials that are slightly bigger than a sample (and are perfect for travel) of Jo Malone colognes that I haven’t tried yet. They’re perfect stocking stuffers!
My pick: Jo Malone London Cologne Discovery Set
Additional choices: Tocca, Maison Louis Marie
