One of my go-to stores for beauty products is holding their Spring Beauty Event, and I’ve been in countdown mode! Bluemercury is now the store that carries all of my favorite brands (they recently added Charlotte Tilbury), which means I can buy all of my go-to products during this event. There are a few exceptions to the event (those products/brands are well labeled), but you’ll get 20% off most of the store when you spend over $200. There’s no tiered discount here, everyone gets the 20% off.
When shopping a big event like this, I typically look through my vanity to see which of my usual products I need to stock up on. Skincare, makeup, haircare, body products… there’s a lot to look at! When Bluemercury had their Anniversary Sale I shared my list of products going in my cart. For the Spring Beauty Event my cart looks very similar, with Oribe styling products, my Chantecaille and Sisley makeup, and a stock up of my beloved skincare from La Mer and SkinMedica.
Today I decided that rather than just once again sharing the big list of products, I would share the first products that I put in my cart. These are my absolute must haves, that I use regularly and that I also buy when they are full priced. I routinely recommend them to friends and family when asked about splurges that are worth the money.
Crème de La Mer
La Mer is the ultimate luxury splurge skincare item. Yes, there’s that whole story about NASA, something about burns and healing… but I love this for how moisturizing and soothing it is for my skin. As I’ve gotten older (I’m in my late 40s now), my skin has changed from combination with an oily t-zone to normal to now dry in most areas. My skin is sensitive, and when it’s on the drier side it gets red and irritated more easily. I’ve tried a lot of different moisturizers over the years, but La Mer is the one that I keep coming back to using as the other products just can’t compare.
I use La Mer at night, after my serums and targeted skincare products. A very small pea sized amount is all I need (which makes my 2 ounce jar last for months), I warm it up by rubbing it between my fingertips before application. It spreads pretty easily, and it really feels like it helps “seal” in my other skincare. It does add a lot of moisture to my skin, and I notice a difference the next morning if I happen to skip this step in my routine.
Sisley-Paris Restructuring Nourishing Balm
Ok, yes. This is a very expensive hair mask. But really, it’s pretty worth it. I break this mask out about once a month, when I feel like I really need to be pampered. It feels and looks like a makeup cleansing balm. Like you are full on smearing something greasy in your hair. The directions say to leave it on before shampooing for “up to 30 minutes or overnight”, which is a huge range. And made me freak out a bit. You want me to leave this in my hair overnight??
Well, I now leave this in overnight if I can.
It adds a lot of moisture and shine to my hair. 30 minutes before washing my hair is a great pick me up, but leaving it on overnight makes my hair look phenomenal! What’s really interesting is that my hair does not look greasy after this balm. No matter how much I apply or how long I leave the balm in my hair, it doesn’t make my hair look greasy. I do have to make sure I wash it all out, which includes my typical double washing with shampoo. But the end result is shiny, healthy looking hair that isn’t greasy or weighed down. The results are beyond what I have ever gotten with any other mask, so this really is worth it, but it’s pricy.
Sisley-Paris Phyto-Hydra Teint Tinted Moisturizer
I’ve talked about this tinted moisturizer before, but it is my current favorite tinted moisturizer for my dry, mature skin. Phyto-Hydra Teint is a sheer to light coverage, it sinks into my skin pretty quickly, and it just makes my skin look much better than it really is. It doesn’t look heavy or cakey on my skin, and it gives just the right amount of moisture. I wear 0 in the winter, 1 in the summer. I’ll be stocking up on my summer shade!
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray
Are you tired of me talking about this setting spray yet? This is the most versatile setting spray I’ve used. I love to use it before I apply my makeup, while applying my makeup (I spritz over my cream and liquid makeup before I apply any powders), and I’ll even spray my makeup brush before tapping it into my foundation and then applying to my face. It makes my makeup look smoother, prevents caking, and at the end of the day my makeup looks much better than if I had skipped the setting spray. I stock up whenever this spray is on sale, it comes with me when I travel, and it is even in my daughters’ dance competition makeup bags!
Late Breaking Update: I got word from Bluemercury after this post went up that Charlotte Tilbury is not included in the sale. The setting spray is still worth grabbing when you make your other purchases!
Revitalash Advanced Eyelash Conditioner
I think I’ve been using this eyelash serum for about 15 years now. And I know that timeline because I was sad when I paused using it for both of my pregnancies! It’s made my lashes much longer and I haven’t experienced side effects other than the occasional irritation of my eyelid.
Skinmedica TNS Eye Repair
My ride or die eye cream! I swear this has reversed a few fine lines that I had starting in my crow’s feet area, and I haven’t seen any since then. I’ve used this for years, and while I swap around what cream I use in the morning underneath my makeup, I will forever use this eye cream at night.
