Once Labor Day hits, I am ready for fall. I want pretty leaves on my trees, I want the temps to fall enough that I can wear pants instead of shorts or dresses each day, and I want to transition to fall makeup. Unfortunately, the weather in Michigan isn’t really cooperating with that plan! It’s been pretty warm still, so my plans for rich red nails and lips just feel… a bit off.
I’ve made some recent changes to my daily makeup routine that have managed to help me feel like I’ve freshened up my look a bit, but still feels weather appropriate. They’re all really new releases, that yes, I admit I may have been checking the Sephora website for them daily! I ordered as soon as my products were available, and they are so worth it! I had been hoping they would be available at my local store (I admit to being addicted to both the buy online and pick up in store and same day delivery options), but I was able to use some of my Beauty Insider Program points in the Rewards Bazaar to pick up a set of Kerastase products that will be perfect for travel this fall! I love the Rewards Bazaar, and truly believe it’s worth joining the (free) Beauty Insider Program just for this perk!
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Stix
I’m a sucker for a good tinted balm, and since Rihanna only makes amazing beauty products (truly, is anything from the Fenty line not a cult favorite?), I was very excited to try out the new Gloss Bomb Stix! This is Blaz’D Donut, a light pinky-peach shade. For me, its the same color as the inside of my lips, which means it’s pretty flattering. It’s a subtle boost to my natural lip color, but shiny and pretty in person (I’m wearing it below). I love that the balm isn’t sticky
Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-eyes Volumizing Mascara
Yes, this is a volumizing mascara for sure! Note, the wand can hold a lot of product, so the first few times you use this you’ll want to pre-swipe with a tissue. But once the wand is down to a little less product, I found this easy to use with good length and volume and no clumping.
Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Concealer
The new Westman Concealer is my new favorite thing ever. This is a full coverage concealer that actually does blend perfectly, very easily. There are other full coverage concealers, that I think don’t work as well. They tend to feel very thick and get cakey easily. I had very high hopes for this concealer, and once I figured out what works best for me, this is now my everything.
Vital Skincare Concealer can cover everything in 1 light coat of product. It blends and looks like skin. It doesn’t get cakey. It looks great all day. I’m using this on key areas of my face and that is it. I’m not reaching for any foundation, which I love!
First, I’m prepping my skin with some hydrating but lightweight products. For me that’s my makeup prep go-to products of La Mer The Eye Concentrate and The Concentrate Serum. The Serum does work a bit like a primer, I’ve gotten similar results using this primer from Tatcha, but I like that The Concentrate Serum is skincare and primer in 1 step.
Once my skin is prepped, I apply a little bit of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish Color Corrector to areas of darkness under my eyes. It’s hard to see in the above left picture, but there is a little dot of Magic Vanish in Medium on the middle aspect of my undereye.
I then dot Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Concealer everywhere that I want a little extra coverage. I have a little in the middle of my forehead, cheek, around my nose, under my eye and at the outer corner. I then spray Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray all over, and blend with a brush. I’ve found that the blending my makeup with the spray helps a lot with longevity. I apply a little bit of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Brightening Powder to my undereye and t-zone areas using a puff to finish setting my face makeup.
What updates have you made recently? I would love to know!
