Pregnancy safe beauty products can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products.
Here you’ll find pregnancy safe products from The Inkey List as of 4/2/2023 If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

Note, I’m assuming that the zinc that’s #2 on the list is the sunscreen here (usually that’s listed separately if used as the sunscreen). Looks safe for pregnancy and nursing.
Hi, The Inkey List has just released a new eye cream. May I know if it’s safe for pregnant women? Here’s the ingredients list:

Hi there! In your post above, the Brighten-I Eye Cream is listed as not safe for pregnancy or nursing, but in the comments you’ve said it looks okay. Can you confirm?
I haven’t technically put that brightener mentioned on my list of things to avoid, but I’m a bit uneasy about it. It’s kind of up to you.
Hi Christine! Thanks for the list! Is the Inkey List Fulvic Acid Brightening Cleanser safe for nursing? Thanks again!
Water (Aqua/Eau), Coco-Glucoside, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peat, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Disodium EDTA, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Dehydroacetic Acid, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate

Hi Doc.
Is this Niacinamide safe?
Water (Aqua), Niacinamide,Glycerin, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Hyaluronic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phospholipids, Xanthan Gum, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Extract, Allantoin, Disodium Edta, Polysorbate 60, Panthenol, Glycolipids, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterol, Disodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Sodium Phosphate.
Looks ok!
Hi. Why did you mark glycolic acid from inkey as unsafe? My dermatologist has listed glycolic acid as safe to use during pregnancy.
Glycolic Acid is NOT universally accepted as safe by the medical community. It is absorbed at least 28% when applied to the skin and we have no real safety data. More about this here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy
Hello, i would just like to ask if kojic acid is safe for breasfeeding moms? And also plant ingredient called lawsonia? Hoping for your answer… thank you.. God bless!
Lawsonia is fine. I would likely avoid hydroquinone, arbutin and kojic acid while nursing.
Hello! There is a new product I just ordered because I read that it is a safe alternative to retinol. If you have time please let me know if these ingredients are safe as I am 30 weeks pregnant. Thank you! https://m.sephora.com/product/bakuchiol-P447778
-Bakuchiol 1%: Naturally plant derived, this ingredient helps to target the signs of aging.
-Squalane: Provides lightweight hydration.
-Sacha Inchi Oil: Nourishes the skin with omega-3.
Water (Aqua), Squalane, Glycerin, Propanediol, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil (Sacha Inchi oil), Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Bakuchiol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Caproyl Prolinate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Polysorbate 60, Phytic Acid, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Tocopherol.
Unfortunately there are brands out there stating that it “works just like a retinoid” and we have no actual safety data. Just people saying “it works like a retinoid, but is safe”, but no reasoning to back them up and no further explanation of mechanisms. Until more info is out I recommend avoiding it and I’ve been screening Bakuchiol out like a retinoid, which is the #1 ingredient to avoid during pregnancy.

Is this product safe during pregnancy?
This just goes to a brand list, I’ve already reviewed the brand above.
https://www.sephora.com/product/tranexamic-acid-night-treatment-P450614
Sry about that listing the product list here and also listed the ingredients below:
Tranexamic Acid Hyperpigmentation Treatment
-Tranexamic Acid 2%: Helps to reduce hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
-Acai Berry Extract 2%: Helps to promote even skin tone and anti-aging.
-Vitamin C Derivative 2%: Helps to brighten skin tone and repair damaged skin cells.
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Tranexamic Acid, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, 1-Methylhydanto-in-2-Imide, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Cetearyl Olivate, Benzyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Olivate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Lecithin, Squalane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Gluconate, Polysorbate 60, Dehydroacetic Acid, Lactobacillus Ferment, Sorbitan Isostearate.
Tranexamic Acid promotes clotting of the blood, I would likely avoid this while pregnant.
What about the inkey list SPF 30 Daily Sunscreen
100% Mineral UV Filters?
As mentioned in the post, I need a full ingredient list to review your product as I’ve reviewed all of the ones I have access to. More info here: why I need an ingredient list to comment on product safety. Note, I do not follow links from readers, I need the actual list.
You have this listed under pregnancy safe. But it doesn’t look like the ingredient list has changed since the original comment was made. Is it safe during pregnancy or no?
This comment was in 2020, I’ve discussed the ingredient in question with other physicians and looked around since then, this discussion is relevant for the ingredient: ingredients I’m not worried about during pregnancy
The product is appropriately listed in the post.
Can you confirm if tranaxemic acid is safe? You put it on the list of safe products but in the comments, you wrote it promotes blood clots…
I talked to a lot of people and it’s thought to be fine topical and NOT do that when used topically, so I don’t screen it out.
Why is Gluconolactone unsafe during pregnancy?
It’s a polyhydroxy acid, basically like an AHA/BHA but penetrates deeper into the skin.
Hi! I didn’t see this on your list. The Inkey List Collagen booster Firming Peptide serum
Safe during pregnancy?

Hi! Thank you so so much for this website and this list of products. I have terrible melasma and only want to use products that are safe while nursing! I ordered the tranexamic acid and vitamin c and Egf brightening serum along with the ordinary’s azelaic acid suspension cream in hopes these will help! I already use the ordinary’s hyaluronic acid+b5 serum morning and night. To make sure I’m using these correctly is there an order I should be applying all of these products in? I of course use mineral sunscreen during the day as well.
I have a post on what order to apply your skincare
Is this ok for pregnancy?

This is fine for pregnancy and nursing
Hi there! You have tranexamic acid hyperpigmentation treatment as safe for pregnancy above but in the comments I think you indicated you would avoid. Wondering if it is really safe for pregnancy? Thank you so much for everything you do!!
It’s something I mention occasionally re: my concerns, but they haven’t reached the level that I’ve added the ingredient to my list of things to avoid. My list is very conservative, and includes more ingredients than most physicians say to avoid. Currently I’m not screening it out, but I’m watching for more information closely

My discussion about Bakuchiol and why I treat it as a retinoid is here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy
And this is also relevant: Why does X Brand say this product is safe but you don’t think it is safe? (or Vice Versa)
