    Holy smokes! This is amazing!
To have a one stop quick guide for moms is incredible.
I’ve been dying to get back to using some of my pre-pregnancy skin care items (PTR unwrinke pads!) but wasn’t sure because I’m breastfeeding. While I was here I checked a few other items too. Love my Osea products and I’m happy to see they’re safe.
    Godsend woman! Thank you!

I was so sad to see the white algae mask and brightening serum is on no-no list during pregnancy, but I’m so glad to find this info out before continuing the routine once I found out about my pregnancy. I do have occasional dark spots on my face – any pregnancy safe products you know of that could address my hyperpigmentation?

I’d concentrate on using a really good sunscreen (pregnancy really ramps up hyperpigmentation with sun exposure) and a vitamin C product

Hey there! I am super happy to see the Essential Corrective Complex on the pregnancy safe list, but had a question! Its ingredient list includes several essential oils, some of which I know aren’t considered pregnancy safe in their pure form – is this product considered pregnancy safe since they’re diluted enough? Ingredient list is below for easy reference. Thanks!!

They word it as a bio-alternative to retinol, and it’s from Algae. Which doesn’t act via the same mechanism and also is NOT a retinoid chemical. When you look at the actual ingredient list, there’s not retinoid. That’s why it’s safe, they’re overstating things, it’s not a retinoid.

That’s a Epilobium Angustifolium extract vs Salix Alba, so while it has willow in the common name they’re very different.

It’s a different plant. Canadian Willow Bark is Epilobium Angustifolium, you need to worry about Salix Alba and Nigra (black and white willow)

Hi! Appreciate the reviews and helpful tips! I have a question about the Undaria Algae body butter. The listed ingredient to avoid using while pregnant or nursing is hemp. If it is THC and CBD free wouldn’t it be considered safe to use?

    • 7.20.22
      Christine said:

Even when hemp is said to be THC/CBD free it isn’t fully. While we KNOW there are bad effects on infants who are exposed to marijuana in utero, we don’t know that those effects are all from the THC (we think there’s a decent chance they’re from other things in the plant). Since there are many unknowns I recommend avoidance. The benefits in skin care are largely unproven and it’s easy to find a replacement product without the ingredient.

Both are fine for pregnancy and nursing. But the pillow spray… it’s similar to a laundry detergent. It’s on the pillow, you shouldn’t be applying to yourself. You won’t absorb it. Not something to worry about.

Hi there! Is the Collagen Dream Night Cream by Osea Pregnancy safe? It contains plant-based retinol, so I’m just curious about your thoughts.

    • 2.13.24
      Christine said:

Yes, I put it in the pregnancy safe part of the list. It isn’t actually a retinoid or a plant based ingredient that acts like one. There are retinoids from plants that work the same way and I screen those out (bidens pilosa and bakuchiol)

You can pretty much find info out there about avoiding everything possible, much of which isn’t based on much. Topical Rosemary is not considered an ingredient to avoid by the medical community. My list of ingredients that I screen out is very conservative and it’s here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy
Rosemary is something you can still eat, which is a much higher level of exposure.
