Hello Doctor! Thank you again for all this valuable information. Now that I am getting closer to the baby arriving, I’ve been researching more about safe products for the baby. I read your post about the baby kit (so so helpful!). I came across this Pipette brand recently. I wonder if you have brand recommendations for baby products like shampoos, soaps, SPF, etc? Just picking your brain. Thank you so much on advance!

I recommend avoiding things with a lot of extracts, babies tend to have reactions to things, fewer and gentler ingredients!
My recs that I tell moms when I’m working in the newborn nursery:
      – Johnson’s Head to Toe wash is fine, the lavender version has a lot of perfumes. Cetaphil face wash is also great to use all over baby.
      – We recommend avoiding lotions/creams on baby. All babies will be dry all over and it will peel off. Adding lotion to it makes this process take longer. You shouldn’t need to use a cream most of the year after that, especially if you have a humidifier. If you feel really compelled to do so, I recommend cetaphil cream or aquaphor.
      – Laundry detergent is a BIG deal for babies. Go for a “free and clear” version, I use All, but Tide also makes one. Dreft is marketed as the baby detergent, but is is very heavily perfumed and the source of many rashes. Avoid perfume at all costs!
      – I don’t have an SPF rec, your pediatrician will likely have one. You can’t start until 6 months, and then you should look for a mineral version instead of chemical sunscreen (again, they get rashes). All of the pregnancy safe sunscreens will be fine for baby. I usually used Aveeno or Blue Lizard for my girls when they were that little.
      I hope that helps!

Hi Dr! You previously had the pipette belly butter and belly oil listed as pregnancy safe but now I do not see them listed at all? Did something change?

    Thanks!

They’re no longer listed on the brand’s site (I just redid the list), and I don’t have another source that I trust for this brand’s ingredient lists. I’m not sure why they pulled all the mom items off of their site? My guess is they’re being discontinued.
