Hi, I have a question about the Eucerin Advanced Repair Hand Cream. On the back of the bottle, it says “This product contains Alpha Hydroxy acid (AHA), which may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, and particularly the possibility of sunburn.”
However, I’m having trouble locating what the AHA is in the ingredients. You mention it is in the links above, but the comment on the back makes me think there is a hidden AHA in the cream. Can you tell me what the hidden AHA is in the cream so I can figure out what to avoid? Is this product safe for pregnancy?

I would look at the Cetaphil, Vaseline or Aveeno products as they all have very similar products.

The Isobutylamido Thiazolyl Resorcinol is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor I’m not sure I’ve seen before. It works the same way as Arbutin and Hydroquinone, and I would avoid it in both pregnancy and nursing.
There are also several chemical sunscreens to avoid in pregnancy.

You need to look at the actual ingredient list, which is what I’ve done. They often call out “key” ingredients that are in extracts that you don’t need to worry about.

On one post above you’ve 12.24.21 written that Isobutylamido Thiazolyl Resorcinol is not recommended for nursing or pregnancy. However on other posts (for example this one and on one 11.29.21 eucerin spot corrector) you’ve written that products including the ingredient is OK for using during pregnancy and nursing. Would really appreciate a clarification on that note. Thanks in advance!
It’s a tyrosinase inhibitor but in discussion with other physicians I haven’t added it yet to my list of things to avoid, they didn’t think it was “strong” enough to warrant that yet. There are other ingredients that have the same action (Vitamin C is one) that are felt to be safe, though the strongest ones (Hydroquinone, Arbutin) are ones that we recommend avoiding in pregnancy and nursing both.

On the back label, there is a ‘Sunburn alert’ that shows that the product contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). Reading this got me worried hence why I will like for you to please go over it again and see if this product is still considered safe for pregnant women.

On the Eucerin website is written that Sebum Regulating Technology, with L-Carnitine and lipid-absorbing microparticles, helps reduce the amount of oil on the skin and mattify the complexion;
Licochalcone A has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It not only helps shield the skin from free radicals but also helps reduce redness and soothe irritation. I dont know if thats helpful?
It doesn’t sound like everything is mentioned there, so I wouldn’t trust that we’d know the full ingredient list and I don’t feel comfortable saying if it is safe or not.
