Pregnancy safe skincare can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.
Here you’ll find every pregnancy safe skincare product from Juice Beauty as of 11/22/2021. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. If they release a new product that is not listed here, please comment below and I will add it. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

In the Stem Cellular products they are stem cells. This naming is inconsistent in other brands as well. I’m putting the Phyto-Pigments under pregnancy safe as they’re not called out as stem cells, but wanted to comment on this.

Hi,
It is super helpful site. I really appreciate all your work!
I am interested in Juicy beauty antioxidant serum(in the safe list of Juicy beauty), but just find out there is ingredient called gluconolactone which I think you are not recommend to use during pregnancy, so I am not sure if you want to take it out of the safe list, or you have different opinion about this ingredient in this specific product.
Thank you!
Clara
Oh no! I think I screen Juice Beauty before I was really aware of Gluconolactone as something to avoid. I’ve moved it down and rescreened all of the products under pregnancy safe. Thank you!
• Blemish Clearing Cleanser: Retinoid
• Green Apple Brightening Eye Cream: Retinoid
• Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer: Retinoid
• Green Apple Age Defy Serum: Retinoid

Hello, please note that we have removed Retinoids from all of the above products. Check the label as if the manufacturing run is more recent, then the label will reflect that the products do not contain Retinoids. Thank you Karen Behnke, Founder
I don’t even know what to say, it’s KAREN!!! This is amazing!
Thank you so much for removing the retinoids Karen, I’ll adjust the post above to make sure people see your update!
This site is amazing – Thank you! I saw that the Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Serum is listed as pregnancy-safe following the removal of retinoids. I love this product & am happy to hear that, but wanted to confirm because Malic Acid (which seems to be on your list of ingredients to avoid during pregnancy) is a major ingredient in this product. Thanks again!

The Malic Acid is in the apple juice and grape juice I believe, because it is not listed as an ingredient. Inside of those juices it is fine

#1 is fine
For #2 you don’t need to worry about powder makeup, but titanium and zinc are the sunscreens that are ok. Papaya is also ok, we don’t restrict eating it and you’ll certainly be exposed to less of it in a powder foundation 🙂
Hi, you listed the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation as not pregnancy safe. However, you replied to a comment on 24 Feb 2019 as saying that it is fine though.
Could you please clarify, thanks.
Sometimes products have different ingredients depending on your country, or there may have been a reformulation along the way. Juice Beauty in particular has been doing a lot of reformulations.
Hi there, sorry if I missed this somewhere in this post but I see Sephora has a GREEN APPLE™ Peel Pregnancy that’s recommended for pregnancy with the ingredients:
Organic Juices Of Pyrus Malus (Apple Juice)*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon Juice)*, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Juice)*, Glycolic Acid, Organic Vegetable Glycerin*, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Lysolecithin, Pullulan, Caprylyl Glycol, Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed Extract), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Seed Oil), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate.

Thank you for this amazing blog! I just stumbled across, I’m a pharmacist and it’s so helpful to have someone with a medical background going through all this.
I have a post here with pregnancy safe sephora products, but I don’t think this one is included in it.
The only ingredient I have an issue with here is the glycolic acid. That isn’t universally accepted as safe by physicians, it is typically >28% absorbed into the body, and we don’t have safety data.
skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy

Your website is SO HELPFUL thank you!!
Hello, Do you have any insight on the Juice Beauty cosmetic line and which items are pregnancy safe?
I haven’t seen it, sorry! I’ll have to check it sometime when I have time.
Oh no… I am 29 weeks pregant and I have been using Stem Cellular 2-in-1 Cleanser once a day since a few months 🙁
There’s info on this situation in the pregnancy beauty FAQ
Hello! I don’t see this on the list- can you help me?

This is fine for pregnancy and nursing
Thank you so much!
Do you know if Juice Beauty’s “GREEN APPLE Peel Pregnancy” is pregnancy safe? I can’t imagine if they are marketing this to pregnant women, that it wouldn’t be safe???
Do you have an ingredient list?
Hi there!
Your site has been super helpful in guiding my skincare regime while pregnant! 🙂 Just looking for some clarification and wondering if you could explain why Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel – Pregnancy; is not considered safe for pregnancy? I realize it has glycolic acid in it but based on other skincare product searches (which contained glycolic acid) they were deemed safe in pregnancy. Just looking for an update on this and if this product is safe or not?!

-Organic Lemon: Helps clarify and the appearance of skin tone and texture and is rich in vitamins, lycopene, phytonutrients, flavonoids, and alpha-hydroxy citric acids.

This has willow bark, Glycolic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid, Salicylic Acid and gluconolactone. Ok for nursing but not pregnancy
Juice Beauty Green Apple Brightening Cleanser Gel has retinyl palmitate, which I read is not safe for pregnancy, but it’s on your list as safe.
This is the full ingredient list (taken from their website), note that there is NOT a retinoid listed. They did reformulate a lot of their products in the last 18 months, but if you have an old product you might have different ingredients.

Hello, Dr!
You have previously mentioned on this in the comments, but I know it was reformulated recently. Just want to check if it’s still pregnancy and nursing safe:

Thank you so much!!
This has gluconolactone, which I’m not sure I was screening out at the time it was mentioned in the comments. Ok for nursing but not pregnancy.
Hi! I noticed that you say Malic acid is not safe for pregnancy, but it is listed as the top ingredient in this product (& other products in this brand) It initially lists malic acid, but then in full ingredients it says pyrus malus. I was just hoping to get some clarification?
Ingredients –
Malic Acid, Apple Juice (Organic)
(pyrus malus)
Rich in vitamins, potent malic alpha-hydroxy acids, phytonutrients, flavonoids, phenols; and provides powerful antioxidant activity to help promote beautiful skin.
a close up of food
Raw Cane Sugar (Organic)
(saccharum officinarum)
Rich in glycolic alpha-hydroxy acids that help effectively exfoliate.
Sage
Sage Leaf (Organic)
(salvia officinalis)
Potent antioxidant properties that can help effectively cleanse.
Full Ingredients:
pyrus malus (organic apple juice)*, citrus medica limonum (organic lemon juice)*, aloe barbadensis (organic aloe juice)*, glycerin†, coco-glucoside†, decyl glucoside†, vitis vinifera (organic white grape juice)*, lauryl glucoside†, xanthan gum†, caprylyl/capryl glucoside†, vacciniumm myrtillus (bilberry fruit extract)†, saccharum officinarum (sugar cane extract)†, acer saccharum (sugar maple extract)†, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange fruit extract)†, citrus limon (lemon extract)†, taraxacum officinale (dandelion leaf extract)†, salvia officinalis (sage leaf extract)†, melissa officinalis (lemon balm leaf extract)†, camellia sinensis (black tea leaf extract)†, tocopherol (Vitamin E)†, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, sodium phytate, citric acid, beta-sitosterol, triethyl citrate†, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange oil)†, litsea cubeba (may chang oil)†, cinnamomum camphora (ho wood oil)†
You only need to worry about it when it is listed individually as a chemical ingredient. When included within an extract it’s fine. The “ingredients” here isn’t what is actually included in the formulation, that’s in the “full ingredients”
Thank you so much for clarifying!
Hello! Great site! I have a question: The Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer is listed on the SAFE section for primers because it has stem cells in it, but in the comments on another page someone asked if this specific primer is safe and you said “Looks okay”. I just wanted to get clarification on this product. Thank you!
Over time Juice beauty has changed their line a bit on whether different products have stem cells or not, so you’re seeing comments based partly on that over time. My concerns are in this post: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy. But since stem cells are labelled very inconsistently even within the same brand, it is something that I defer to what the brand claims is in a product.
Good morning! I’m curious about the Last Looks Cream Blush. Thank you!
I have already reviewed all products in this brand that I have access to their ingredient list. I need a full ingredient list to review your product, more info here: why I need an ingredient list to comment on product safety.

Hello,
Can you please help me understand your reasoning for the following products to be considered unsafe for use in pregnancy:
Blemish clearing cleanser, stem cellular cc cream and green apple pregnancy peel
The above mentioned products are specially listed under juice beauty’s website of solutions for healthy pregnancy section and I have been using them for a week. I am now concerned about them after reading your websites list.
Thank you
This discussion will help: Why does X Brand say this product is safe but you don’t think it is safe? (or Vice Versa)
The ingredient I am concerned about is noted next to each product.

Safe for pregnancy and nursing
Hello Dr,
I noticed that this product PHYTO-PIGMENTS LAST LOOKS CREAM BLUSH(you list as pregnancy safe) has
the same ingredient that you find problematic as the stem cellular CC cream (Mali’s domestica extract)not pregnancy safe). I think that is how they mark the plant stem cells. Should the cream blush be on the not safe list as well? Thanks
Sometimes those the cell extracts are stem cells and sometimes not. When you read through the brand’s descriptions, they make a big deal about stem cells in the other products but it is NOT mentioned for these products (it’s that * disclaimer in the post, this isn’t something that I’ve hidden, I thought I was upfront about it with an entire paragraph…) I rely on what the brand states about whether those are stem cells are not.
Hi!
I’m somewhat confused– I went to look at your “Basic Pregnancy Skincare” and it has Juice Cleansing Milk listed as a safe cleanser, but then above when looking specifically at Juice products, you have the Cleansing Milk under “Not safe for pregnancy, OK for nursing”. Could you please clarify if it’s safe for pregnancy or not? Thanks!
The round ups aren’t updated as often as the brand lists, as discussed here: how to use these pregnancy safety lists
Hi there,
I was wondering if the supergrape youth renew serum was okay for pregnancy. Thank you.

Ok for nursing but not pregnancy due to salicylate
Juice Beauty has discontinued their Antioxidant Mask and added this new REVITALIZING ACACIA + ROSE POWDER MASK. Would love to know if this is pregnancy and/or nursing safe. Thanks!
As mentioned in the post, I need a full ingredient list to review your product as I’ve reviewed all of the ones I have access to. More info here: why I need an ingredient list to comment on product safety. Note, I do not follow links from readers, I need the actual list. Thanks!
Hi Dr. Christine,
First off, thank you so much for all that you do! Your website has been a fantastic source of knowledge as I curate a pregnancy-safe routine as my husband and I are TTC. I really appreciate that you call out the specific ingredients of concern so that we can make an educated decision on what we want to use or avoid.
I’m looking for a pregnancy-safe vitamin c serum Or moisturizer, preferably from an eco-conscious and sustainable brand, and am eyeing Juice beauty. (I tried Honest beauty and didn’t see much of a difference, and the formula caused my serum foundation to pill).
I skimmed the ingredient list and nothing stood out, but would you please take a look? If you have other vitamin c recommendations happy to hear as well.
Thank you for all that you do!

This one is fine for pregnancy, TTC and nursing 🙂 I haven’t tried it, but it’s worth a shot.
I think Vitamin C serums can be a bit tricky, I feel like there are some that exacerbate acne, and depending on formulation that pilling you experienced can be an issue if you apply a tiny bit too much (I’m having that issue this morning, I tried the PTR eye cream that tightens up your undereyes? I’m pilled. And also don’t see a tightening effect today… suspecting I’m too old for this to help). Otherwise the gold standard vitamin C serum (though not eco-conscious and sustainable) is the CE Ferulic from SkinCeuticals, and that one is also pregnancy safe, though it is known for exacerbating acne.
Thank you Dr. Christine!
I agree, pilling has been a big issue with vitamin c serums under my makeup. I wanted to love Honest Beauty’s vitamin c serum, but it pills under everything.
I will try the juice beauty one next. If that doesn’t work/show results, I may concede to the price tag of the CE ferulic. Glad to know that worked for you.
Thank you for the advice and all the work you do!
Hi can you please review this product- is it safe for pregnancy and or nursing? I saw on your original post not safe but it looks like their ingredient list may have changed because I don’t see any mention of stem cells. Thank you!

Hi! You mention that Juice Beauty Stem Cell Anti Wrinkle eye cream is not safe for pregnancy due to stem cells but in their ingredient list it says it’s fruit stem cells. Is this form not recommended for pregnancy? Sorry if you already commented on this but I did not see anything on this.
It doesn’t matter what kind of stem cells. Juice makes a big deal about them being from fruit, but it’s all stem cells. Almost all skincare products have fruit or vegetable stem cells.
Hello, I found your site about a week ago and I’m so glad! I’ve noticed the Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30 is New & Improved, now Matte. I bought a tube before the new formula but I don’t have the box to compare ingredients. I see there is polyhydroxystearic acid in the ingredients. Is that something to avoid during pregnancy?

The ingredient you mentioned is basically a wax, not an “acid” like you’re probably thinking of.
