I have the Smoothing Souffle Whipped Body Cream and the main ingredient is said to be peppermint. I’ve been reading a lot on essential oil use while pregnant and it warms against peppermint in the first trimester. Do you agree? Is this lotion ok to use early on?
Should be ok in a product. We don’t really know how much to use/avoid, we mostly say not to slather yourself up like crazy with any of the EOs. But the exposure in a product like a cream or lotion is much lower.
Hi there, I’m a bit worried now as I’ve been using night a mins cream while pregnant and it’s in the not safe list. Why is it unsafe and should I be worried that I’ve been using it?
Please refer to the lists below to the safe list to see which ingredient was on my list of ingredients to avoid during pregnancy, most of the night a mins are unsafe due to salicylic acid, but I can’t tell you which ingredient for sure as there are a lot of those products. I have info on what to do if you are using an unsafe product in my pregnancy FAQ, but in general the worst ingredient to be using is a retinoid, the others haven’t been proven and theoretically could cause issues, but many women use products throughout their pregnancies without issues. I would just change to a different product and not worry about it.

They usually don’t list that one by the extract name. In this case it is the Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate.

I screened these products on the Origins site (very recently if you look at the date within the post) and not only is there no Salicylic Acid in this list or the one on the Origins site, but there’s no mention of Salicylic Acid on their site. They’re likely calling it out as being in an extract or something, but that’s not something to be worried about with pregnancy safety unless it is willow bark.

2- it’s fine because it doesn’t really absorb, it mostly evaporates. Also a different kind of alcohol than ethanol.
