It’s finally feeling like late spring or early summer here in Michigan, and I admit that as per usual, I’ve been revamping my look a bit as a result! I’ve been really craving easy, fresh and natural looks. I want my skincare, makeup and hair to all be “me but better“, effortless but pulled together. Part of this meant I splurged big time on my hair… yes, I bought the Dyson AirStrait! More on that below.
First, I had some things already waiting in my cart, and when Sephora emailed me that they had the AirStrait in stock, I ordered immediately! I love signing up for email alerts from their website! Instead of continually check on the app or their website for a product to be available, I get notified automatically. Because I’m part of their Beauty Insider Program, I can get access to these products before the general public. I’ve also been a huge fan recently of buying online and picking up in store, it has been saving me a lot of time! Make sure you sign up (for free) if you haven’t done that yet.
Fresh Eyes: Me, but Better
Lately I’ve been craving very simple eye looks. Matte, or very subtle shimmer. A no-makeup look, but something better than just my eyelids without makeup. Because my eyelids without makeup isn’t a pretty site, my skin is fair and you can see a lot of capillaries!
Danessa Myrick’s ColorFix is something I keep hearing about as a “must try”. This liquid/lotion color product can be used anywhere, from your eyes to your cheeks! It’s pretty well pigmented and a little goes a very long way. It’s very easy to apply with a fingertip, or you could use a brush for more precise application. It lasts all day for me without creasing. They recently released a range of “nude” tones that should work for many people as a skin-tone shade.
I’ve been pairing ColorFix with matte shadows from my Makeup by Mario palette. I add a little depth in my crease and smudge shadow into my lash line as a liner.

Super Shiny, Natural Lips
I’ve been going through phases of lip products lately. For a while this winter I was in a bold, bright pink lip mood. Then I wanted only lip stains. Currently I want my lips super moisturized and a bit darker than their typical blah nothing color. I want them shiny. I want them to look great, but not be a statement.
This new lip balm from Farmacy is quickly becoming a go-to! It’s not sticky, has a great apple flavor, and makes my lips feel hydrated for hours! I’ve been pairing it with my perfect nude glossy balm from YSL.

Straight and Smooth, Touchable Hair
Yes, I did it. I bought the latest splurge from Dyson, and as usual I was not disappointed. I’ve already been craving hair that was sleek, shiny and frizz free. And this flat iron/dryer combo really is perfect for creating that look!
I started with the new IGK Good Behavior Shampoo/Conditioner duo. I liked their previous smoothing shampoo/conditioner, but this new update does make a big difference in my hair! My only issue is that they don’t seem to come in big liter sizes yet, only smaller bottles. I’m hoping that changes soon!
I prepped my hair with a little Pureology hair serum from the roots to the tips. It smooths hair and adds heat protection, which is super important for me as my hair gets damaged easily. I used just the side vents of the AirStrait to rough dry my roots a bit, you can see where I ended up with that in the first picture. The AirStrait is powerful enough to get that job done, but I wouldn’t count on it as a primary dryer. I think it’s too underpowered for that (and really, it isn’t meant for that anyways).
I then used my favorite alligator clips to section my hair, and run the AirStrait down small sections of hair. You can see my in process picture here, I was surprised just how much the AirStrait relies on the drying action outside of the flat iron, and then there are heated plates on the inside. Once my hair was done, I did add a little hair oil to the ends to add a little shine.
Overall I was very happy with my results! From sopping wet hair to salon-worthy blow out, including pictures, this was 30 minutes for me, the same as a blow dry and flat iron session but with better results. I think I could get that time down quite a bit with practice. The results are still going strong right now (4 days later) without frizz and with some nice volume.
