Super Hydrating Pregnancy Safe Serums

Pregnancy safe hydrating serums

It’s January. Which means winter skin is in full effect! To combat this, and preserve some sort of glow, I super amp up my hydrating skincare routine. The powerhorse of this winter routine is the hydrating serum. These products are lightweight but pack a super moisture punch! They add moisture to the skin, but don’t feel heavy or add bulk to the products on your face. I love to layer these serums under other products or even mix them into makeup! They’re very versatile.

Today I’m sharing four of my favorite hydrating serums. These are the ones I currently have in my own rotation, but there are other great ones out there. All of these also happen to meet my pregnancy safe skincare criteria, and they are easy to buy at Sephora! There are so many pregnancy safe options at Sephora that I’ve also shared some others that I found in a list at the very bottom. Reminder to sign up for the Beauty Insider program when you’re picking out your next hydrating favorite. It’s the perfect way to earn points on that purchase, which I love to use on super sized samples of new finds!

Shani Darden Moisture Plumping Serum

Shani Darden Skin Care Moisture Boost Plumping Serum

Of the options here, I think the Shani Darden is the most hydrating. It also feels the smoothest, and when it fully absorbs into my skin I love applying makeup over this serum, it doubles as a primer. This is the one I reach for when I feel like my skin is really dry. I layer it under everything, and within 1-2 applications I am so glowy and hydrated!

Glow Recipe Niacinamide Dew Drops

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops Serum

I think this is the most versatile of the products I’m sharing today. Inspired by Judy Lim, I have mixed this serum into my foundation and concealer to provide glowy, hydrating coverage! I’ve tried other serums (and yes, they work), but the Glow Recipe seems to blend the best when mixed with other products. I apply a bit of the concealer or foundation to the back of my hand, put a small amount of the serum off to the side, and slowly add more serum and mix until I’ve hit the correct mix to get the coverage I want but still add more hydration. Then I apply with a brush (loving the versatility of this foundation brush right now, it works under my eyes and all over my face), stippling and making small circular buffing motions to apply.

Note, this serum is NOT just a hydrating serum! It also has niacinamide, which is great for improving overall skin tone and texture. I love that I can add some extra punch to my skincare with this serum.

The Ordinary HA serum

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum

I love that there is a great option with a lower price point! The Ordinary serum is nicely hydrating, and preps skin nicely for makeup. Similar to other Ordinary products, it has a more streamlined ingredient list and doesn’t try to pack a ton of actives into the product. It does have 5 different weights of hyaluronic acid, which means there are lots of different penetration levels into the skin, offering benefits to a lot of layers of skin.

Summer Fridays Jet Set Serum

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Deep Hydration Serum

The Summer Fridays serum is a bit more like a super hydrating lotion/serum hybrid than a traditional serum. I think of this as a faster, slightly less time intensive version of the Jet Lag Mask (love that mask!), offering a lot of hyrdation in just a few minutes. With my rosacea, dry skin often means that I also have redness and irritation. This formulation has a lot of skin soothing ingredients such as Centella asiatica extract, and it also has the Niacinamide found in the Glow Recipe. When I’m feeling a bit irritated, this is the serum I’m reaching for.
